Adam Russell-Jones, born in the UK and based in Berlin, trained at Elmhurst School for Dance and the Royal Ballet School, graduating in 2014. He danced with Stuttgart Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater before becoming freelance in 2022, performing internationally and developing a solo practice that explores human relationships through language, metaphor, and theatrical sensitivity.

In Release the Hounds, Russell-Jones creates a danced poem of crisis, drawing on 1920s dance marathons and rave culture. Evoking both ballroom and nightclub, the work portrays the endlessly dancing body—at once ecstatic and despairing, suspended between survival and collapse. Inspired by Rainald Goetz’s RAVE and the film They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, it asks: why must the dancer keep going?
